Giza

Giza Governorate is one of the governorates of Egypt. Its capital is the city of Giza, which was established in 20 AH with the Islamic conquest of Egypt. Giza Governorate is one of the three governorates of Greater Cairo, along with Cairo and Qalyubia Governorates. It is one of the ancient cities that were established at the time of the Muslim conquest of Egypt. Yaqut said in the Dictionary of Countries: Giza in the Arabic language: means the valley or the best place in it. It was mentioned in the book Al-Intisar that the city of Giza is an Islamic city that was built in 21 AH. It was mentioned in Ahsan Al-Taqaseem by Al-Maqdisi that Giza is a city behind the column (meaning the Nile gauge). The road to it from the island was on a bridge, until the Fatimid Caliph cut it off.
