Cairo Governorate is one of Egypt's 27 governorates.
It consists of Cairo, the national capital of Egypt and the capital of the governorate, in addition to five satellite cities: the New Administrative Capital - scheduled to become the seat of the national government, New Cairo, Shorouk, Badr, Hadayek El-Asema, and 15th of May. These cities constitute approximately half of the Greater Cairo area in terms of population.
