Minya Governorate is one of the governorates of Egypt. It is located between the governorates of Beni Suef to the north and Assiut to the south. Its capital is Minya City. It is one of the most important governorates in Upper Egypt due to its central location and the unique archaeological sites it contains. It has a large university with fifteen faculties. It was previously called Minya Al-Fuli in reference to Sheikh Ahmed Al-Fuli
