Beni Suef Governorate is one of the governorates of the "North Upper Egypt" region, and one of the governorates of northern Middle Egypt geographically, and is located to the south of Greater Cairo in the Nile Valley. Its capital is the city of Beni Suef, and the governorate was named after its capital, by a decision of Muhammad Ali Pasha in 1821 AD. It is of archaeological and agricultural importance.
